GANDHI COMMUNITY GARDEN AGREEMENTS
The M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence (MKGI)
Spring + Summer 2026
Please read the following agreements carefully. All plot-holders are required to abide by these agreements, and sign to acknowledge they have read them by May 18th, 2026.
I agree to provide a $10 commitment fee at the start of the season, which will be returned to me at the end of the garden season. If I am unable to provide the $10 commitment fee but still wish to have a plot in the Gandhi Garden, I will email Gandhi staff to request a waiver (email jonathon@mkgi.org)
I will have something planted in the garden by June 1, 2026, and I will maintain my plot until at least October 1, 2026.
I will attend 3 group meetings: an orientation and agreement-making session (beginning of season), a community-building or educational workshop (mid season), and a closing session (end of season). If I cannot attend these sessions, I must contact Gandhi garden staff.
If I must abandon my plot for any reason, I will notify the garden leaders.
I will control weeds, trash, and litter and maintain the areas immediately surrounding my plot. I will put away any tools or buckets that I use.
I will keep the paths bordering my plot clear.
If my plot becomes unkempt, I understand I will be given 2 weeks notice to clean it. If the issue has not been addressed by the end of those 2 weeks, the plot will be re-assigned or tilled in and used to grow produce by Gandhi staff.
I will plant tall crops only where they will not shade neighboring plots.
I will pick only my own crops unless given permission by another plot user. I understand that the rest of the Gandhi Community Garden is open to public harvest 24/7, and as such, recognize that sometimes community members might pick from my plot instead of the stone-lined public beds.
I will not use fertilizers, insecticides, or weed repellents that will affect other plots.
I will use the hose and water pumps only for watering plots. All other uses of the hose should be approved by a MKGI staff member.
I will not come to the garden intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, nor will I use alcohol, tobacco products, or drugs while at the garden.
I understand that neither the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence nor the owners of the land are responsible for my actions.I THEREFORE AGREE TO HOLD HARMLESS THE GARDEN GROUP AND OWNERS OF THE LAND FOR ANY LIABILITY, DAMAGE, LOSS, OR CLAIM THAT OCCURS IN CONNECTION WITH USE OF THE GANDHI COMMUNITY GARDEN BY ME OR ANY OF MY GUESTS.
Please be sure to read our Gandhi Community Garden Agreements. After reading: Sign (type) your first and last name here to register. By signing, I confirm I have read the following agreements carefully, and I agree that I will abide by these agreements as a plot-holder in the Gandhi Institute Community Garden.
